Professor Bengt Kristensson
Uggla (born 1959) is holder of the Amos Anderson Chair of
Philosophy, Culture and Management at the Swedish
University in Finland, Åbo Akademi University (Turku). His
doctoral thesis from Lund University 1994 (Kommunikation på
bristningsgränsen. En studie i Paul Ricoers project,
Symposion 1994) explores the communicative resources in
Paul Ricoeur’s philosophical project from the 30s to the
early 90s. He was appointed Associate Professor (Docent) in
World Views and Ideologies at Uppsala University 1995 and
has an extensive international cross-disciplinary network
as well as experiences from management positions such as
dean of Swedish Institute of Management (IFL). He is also
member of European Cultural Parliament and among other
things he acts as head of The Nomadic University for Art,
Philosophy and Enterprise in Europe, a joint initiative by
European Cultural Parliament, Åbo Akademi University and
Cittadelarte-Fondazione Pistoletto – in cooperation with
other actors in Europe (www.nurope.eu).
Kristensson Uggla is a distinguished expert on Paul
Ricoeur’s work in its entirety, but he has also lectured
and written extensively to develop and implement
hermeneutics in a wide range of areas, such as education,
communication theory, political philosophy, theology,
management and different kinds of art. His previous
research interest concerns philosophical anthropology and
the contributions of hermeneutics to the understanding of
geopolitics and to deal with the challenges from the
globalization process.
