Bengt Kristensson Uggla (born 1959) lives in Stockholm, Sweden, and since 2005 Amos Anderson Professor of Philosophy, Culture and Management at the Swedish-speaking university in Finland, Åbo Akademi. Bengts doctoral thesis from Lund University 1994 explores the communicative resources in Paul Ricoeur’s philosophical project from the 30s to the early 90s. He was appointed Associate Professor (Docent) in World Views and Ideologies at Uppsala University 1995 and has an extensive international cross-disciplinary network as well as experience of being a visiting scholar (Stanford University, SUNY at Stony Brook, North Park University, Stockholm University, Stockholm Institute of Education, Stockholm School of Theology) and experience of significant management positions such as dean at IFL (Swedish Institute of Management). He is also a member of the European Cultural Parliament and a board member of Centre International pour l’Etude Comparée de Philosophie et d’Esthétique, Tokyo (2005 – ). Among other things he has acted as head of NUROP (the Nomadic University for Art, Philosophy and Enterprise in Europe. A joint initiative of the European Cultural Parliament, Åbo Akademi University and the Citadelarte-Fondazion Pistoletto – in cooperation with other actors in Europe, www.nurope.eu) 2006-2010 and is a frequently invited academic and public speaker.
Bengt Kristensson Uggla is a distinguished expert on Paul Ricoeur’s work in its entirety, he has published books, articles, translations, introductions and contributions to anthologies in connection with Ricoeur’s philosophy. He has also extensively developed and implemented hermeneutics in a wide range of areas, such as education, communication theory, political philosophy, theology, management studies and different aspects of the arts. In the last ten years he has also published several books and articles in association with the Swedish theologian Gustaf Wingren (1910-2000).
